Kekkaishi Manga

Currently reading back through the Kekkaishi manga from the start and had forgotten how awesome Gen was… I think one of the things which has drawn me to Kekkaishi though is the way Yellow Tanabe isn’t afraid to kill a character. Makes a change to some of the more mainstream series where no one ever dies.

The humour is right up my street too, Yoshimori is a baking genius. Plus, their kekkai-justu is the kind of manga power which is super versatile so can be used in more than way variation.

Shame the anime didn’t continue…

Hands Like Houses - Ground Dweller

This seriously has to be the album of the year so far right… as in hands down, no one comes close!? It is quite simply a stand out album… and showcases all their talent and potential!! Absolutely stunning!! Probably one the most complete albums I have had the pleasure to listen to for a while and only goes to show that Rise Records can still find some gems!!

Gets me pumped for the Acoustic EP they’re due to release on YouTube called “Snow Sessions”… Their acoustic take on songs takes them in a whole new direction and sound stunning!!

Think I may have found another all time favourite album to add to the list… and a favourite band to boot… Buzzing!!

Bleach Chapter 461 - “Come Around Our Town”

At long last Bleach got back en route!! The whole feel seems to have shifted too, and its absolutely awesome. For far too long I’ve been disappointed with the direction of the current arc but recent developments have recharged everything.

The arrival of shinigami has been long overdue and it did seem like a fair bit of fan service at the reveal last week but… I don’t even care. Was a rather striking moment in the series, as was seeing Urahara back in Soul Society this week, I wonder what capacity he’s been allowed to return in… Although it has been showed that he is still holed up in Karakura Town. Would I also be looking too much into things if I was to believe Shinji is in Soul Society as he also departed reiatsu into the sword!? Or is this just wishful thinking that he’s returned to Gotei 13?!

The big climax of this arc so far has to be the reveal that Ginjou is in fact the substitute shinigami mentioned at the start of this arc, and although it wasn’t the most shocking thing I’ve ever heard it was very awesome reveal.

Looking forward to next week and seeing what Ginjou has up his sleeve and what Tsukishima is doing while all the attention is on Ginjou…

Naruto Chapter 550 - “Kotoamatsumaki”

What I understood from this chapter was that Itachi likes to stash other peoples eyes inside people he has faith in… I dunno, all seemed rather weird with the sole aim of being able to bring Itachi back from the dead.

I’m not really a fan of Nagato to be honest but I think its because the rinnegan hasn’t been shown to its fullest ability yet. It seemed like quite the anticlimax after it got introduced… Hoping that Madara can muster something more from it with the addition of his sharingan…

An extra week to wait now though thanks to the holidays…

Bleach Chapter 459 - “Death & Strawberry 2”

Finally Ichigo regains his shinigami, but in doing so makes the past arc all rather… obsolete. The way it all appeared to happen is very similar to how Ichigo originally acquired shinigami powers from Rukia, being pierced by her blade in the chest in a moment of despair. Although it appeared that Ichigo had all his fullbring sucked out of him he does seem to have retained some under armour of sorts, which is a nice touch… I’m just praying his mask is still around…

As for the coming weeks… who knows what will happen next!? Obvious expectation for me would be for Ginjo and Tsukishima to flee, I can’t see them coming out too well in a fight with Ichigo, Urahara, Rukia and Isshin. The only other possibility would be for everyone under Tsukishima’s fullbring to come to their defence if they’re attacked…

It’s gonna be sometime before we find out though seems as its holiday season in Japan so no Jump until next week…

The only reasons I am going to this gig are Woe Is, Me to see if Tyler Carter is really as amazing as he sounds on record and Sleeping With Sirens, cause their last release was just so spot on.

I’m really not fussed about the other two “bigger” names. A Skylit Drive are a decent live band but nothing to write home about… on top of the fact that their last album doesn’t really register now. And ISMFOF… well they should surely be dead and buried by now!? And this coming from someone who quite enjoyed “You Can’t Spell Slaughter Without Laughter”… Most likely early night.

Bleach Chapter 458 - “End of All Bonds”

Quite simply jaw dropping this week. The way in which Ginjo was revealed was what I would call classic Bleach. And for some reason I didn’t see it coming, obviously losing my touch.

I do prefer Ginjo as the enemy though, it suits him more somehow and his new persona just fits with his style more in my opinion. I also love how it opens up the whole question of, how much of what Ginjo has told Ichigo can you trust?! And what is the the Fullbrings plans…

I can see this week being pretty heavily dominated with Ichigo and Ishida getting their asses whooped before someone else ends the fold… I’m hoping for a shinigami but with the appearance of Ishida I feel that maybe Ryuken could be seen in battle again.

I don’t really care what happens next though at the moment, I’m just happy that Bleach has got exciting again…

One Piece Chapter 633 - “Friend Or Foe?”

If there is one thing in One Piece I never get tired of its when the full crew gather just before shit goes down… it’s a scene that never grows old. The fact that so much time has passed that just seeing them line up bought about a sense of anticipation. Add to that what came before with Luffy getting things started and I think we’re gonna be in for another immense fight.

I hope that the fights are staggered somewhat in a similar way to how they were in the CP9 arc, just so all characters get to show off what they’ve learnt… Wanna see their new moves.

Naruto Chapter 549 - “Itachi’s Question”

As to be expected when two big characters meet on the battlefield in Naruto, there is a hefty amount of dialogue… and unfortunately I think it works against Itachi coming across as a good guy. When he was the outcast and general enemy of the world he had a presence about him which seems to dissipate when he’s being kind and caring almost.

No question that what is going on with Naruto right now is similar to that which happened to Sasuke when he saw Madara’s sharingan. The real question is going to be what is going to come forth… if Sasuke has Amaterasu then surely Naruto will have something equally impressive.

Naruto Chapter 548 - “Naruto Vs. Itachi!!”

There is only one place to start here really… How can you summon a giant clam to a battlefield?! Surely that has to be the WORST summon of all time… Right!? What is it honestly gonna do?! Other then bury itself in Gaara’s sand… bizarre.

The only other point of note is the meeting between Itachi and Nagato with Naruto and Bee… The big question here though is if the story will continue with these guys or switch off somewhere else… My money is a fair bit of dialogue. Itachi usually has words for Naruto as I’m sure Nagato will, and then they’ll scamper somewhere… same old, same old.

Bleach Chapter 457 - “End of the Bond 3”

This chapter actually wasn’t half bad. I did find the fight between the fullbringers and Ginjou rather flat but Shishigawara’s ability is actually quite interesting. The way it makes everything rely on probability is for intent and purposes something which can literally affect anything.

I really don’t like how they’re saying how Ichigo’s fullbring powers are mixing with his shinigami powers… I want him to lose the whole fullbring as soon as. Either that or for his fullbring to evolve in some way, cause at the moment it’s just a poor man’s version of his powers.

The best part of the chapter though has to be Ginjou diving in to block Tsukishima’s blade, full on Bodyguard style. I’m hoping that this will bring about Urahara, Isshin and the unknown shinigami to come into action… surely they’ve all noticed Ichigo’s reiatsu.

Then perhaps Urahara will finally be revealed as being the big bad in the future arc, from day one I’ve said it and I’m still waiting!!

One Piece Chapter 632 - “I Already Knew”

There is one issue that I sometimes find with One Piece and that is the way in which sometimes the story can progress for months without seeing or hearing from any of the main crew. And right now I wouldn’t be surprised if this current arc falls into that area.

The fact that Jinbe and Shirahoshi got caught in a trap is ridiculous… Jinbe is meant to be a badass yet he got caught in a chain!? Just seems a bit cheap and not what I’d expect… Luffy definitely should’ve gone.

One of the things I want to see most is Big Mam, the Yonko who took over rule of Fishman Island from Whitebeard in exchange for candy. Surely they’re going to have something to say about what’s going on right about now… Add that to the fact that the Strawhats already have links to Big Mam, there’s bound to be some help coming their way… Guess they won’t be seen until this battle for supremacy is over.
